Top 8 Brunch Spots in Overland Park With Little To No Wait

Many health professionals say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In our family, we take that advice seriously - so seriously, in fact, that we prioritize brunch…you know, for our health.

The only downside to weekend brunch? The long wait for a table.

Waiting for food is tough for anyone, but add a new baby who refuses to nap in public (FOMO is real!), and it becomes an even bigger challenge. So, we started seeking out restaurants with great brunch options that can seat us quickly. Here are some of our favorites:

1. Iron Horse Bar and Grill (151st & Nall)

    • On nice days, their back patio is our go-to spot. It's dog-friendly and even has a special menu for your furry friend. If you enjoy a morning mimosa - or a midday one -  they offer $2 mimosas all day, every day. While you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, my personal favorite is the breakfast sandwich.

2. Red Door Woodfired Grill (119th & Roe)

    • Word is getting out about their brunch, so tables start filling up around 11am on weekends. My husband, a self-proclaimed Bloody Mary connoisseur, swears by theirs - it has a homemade mix with a subtle smoky flavor. When I was pregnant, I craved chicken and waffles, and Red Door's version did not disappoint. The honey butter and crispy chicken will have you licking your plate clean.

3. Rye Leawood (106th & Mission)

    • I love the farmhouse vibe at Rye! Their patio overlooks a pond, making it a picturesque brunch spot. If you have a sweet tooth like me, don't miss the homemade cinnamon rolls or pecan-fried chicken with French toast. My husband swears by the huevos racheros, and we both agree - the breakfast potatoes are a must.

4. Louie’s Wine Dive (119th & Metcalf)

    • With several gluten-free friends in our circle, Louie's is our go-to for girls' brunch. Their beignets are a must - whether you share or keep them all to yourself, the rum butter sauce will have you licking your fingers. For the main course, I would recommend the classic Benedict, though the crab Benedict is a great choice if you are feeling fancy.

5. Tavern at Mission Farms (106th & Mission)

    • For a classy, American-style brunch, Tavern is a solid pick. Many dishes come with a homemade biscuit that's absolutely drool-worthy. Their breakfast nachos put a fun twist on a classic app, while my husband raved about the Denver omelet, you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

6. Brass Onion (135th & Nall)

    • Located in the Prairie Fire complex, Brass Onion has a lovely patio for outdoor dining. Their breakfast flatbread is listed under "shareables," but I refuse to share - it's that good.

7. Pinstripes (135th & Nall)

    • If you are in the mood for a breakfast buffet, this is your spot. With a carving station, omelet bar, waffle bar and more, there is something for everyone (even those picky eaters). The indoor space includes bocce ball courts and bowling lanes, and their outdoor seating, complete with garage doors for an open-air feel, makes for a great atmosphere.

8. Red Bridge Barrio (Red Bridge Rd. & Holmes)

    • Okay, this one isn't in Overland Park, but it's worth the drive. This lively Mexican restaurant features garage doors that open to a patio, and sometimes there's live music, too! Since it's on the Missouri side, bottomless mimosas are an option - if you're having more than two, it practically pays for itself. My go-to dish is the chilaquiles rojo, but if cheese is your love language, the breakfast quesadilla is calling your name.

  1. Great summary! I couldn't agree more about the Iron Horse patio and the Pinstripes buffet. Now I need to try these other spots :)
